Textron delivers first round of Cessna Skyhawk order
Textron Aviation has delivered five new Cessna 172 Skyhawk piston aircraft to the Kansas State University Salina campus to support growing enrollment in the university’s pilot training programs.
A 10 aircraft order was announced last October for the school, which will expand its fleet of Skyhawk aircraft to 22.
“Textron Aviation is committed to providing support to the training and development of the next generation of pilots, and the Cessna Skyhawk is an excellent choice to fulfill that mission,” said Chris Crow, vice president, Piston Sales, Textron Aviation.
The remaining five custom-exterior Skyhawks — each equipped with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics — are scheduled to be delivered later this spring.
Since hitting the market in June of 1955, the Cessna 172, also known as the Skyhawk, has been the most popular and widely used single engine aircraft for training.
