All 20 of Textron Aviation’s service centers around the world have achieved certification NATA Sustainability Standard for Aviation Businesses. This makes the company the first aircraft original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to receive this certification for sustainable practices in use and the largest company with multiple locations to self-certify each site.
“This recognition affirms that we are on the right path towards achieving our sustainability goals,” said Brian Rohloff, senior vice president, Customer Support. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to a more sustainable future for our employees, communities and customers.”
Textron Aviation recently entered into a 2o-year contract with Evergy, a Kansas-based energy company, to utilize the state’s renewable wind energy to power nearly all of the company’s Wichita facilities. Additionally, all service centers in North America have transitioned to using LED lighting throughout the facilities.
Textron also offers a recycling program for landing gear, avionics and electronics that can also be repurposed.
The company’s Wichita service center also offers sustainable aviation fuel.
In March, Textron joined the push towards electric aircraft development with the acquisition of Pipistrel and the forming of its own sustainable aircraft business segment, Textron eAviation.
