Pilots flying into the Naples Municipal Airport (KAPF) will have limited access to airport facilities — including aviation fuel — between 9:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
With traffic at the airport increasing by nearly 40%, airport officials are hopeful that a fuel ban beginning on May 1, 2022, will discourage flights during voluntary curfew hours, limiting the number of noise complaints received. Airport officials say that many of the noise complaints received are related to nighttime flights.
“Although the airport must remain open 24 hours per day, we hope that more aircraft operators will help us to be good neighbors by observing the voluntary quiet hours,” said Chris Rozansky, Naples Airport Authority executive director. Exceptions for the curfew will be made for public services, such as the county sheriff’s office or med flights.
Alongside the curfew, the airport authority has offered other initiatives to address noise concerns, including offering curfew and noise information, adding curfew language to leases and contracts, a live flight tracker on the airport website, and a top-10 curfew violators list for the month and year-to-date.
Over 113,100 aircraft landed at or took off from the Naples Airport in 2021.
Naples Airport features multiple facilities on its campus, including flight schools, Civil Air Patrol, and aircraft charter and sales.
