Textron is bringing a new upgrade to the Beechcraft King Air 260 and 360 turboprops with new CoolView windows to reduce heat transfer into the cabin on the ramp. The CoolView windows will offer passengers an improved level of comfort and cabin cooling. The King Air aircraft will be the first in its category to be equipped with the new windows, starting in early 2024.
The CoolView windows are manufactured by Lee Aerospace. The windows will be installed in Beechcraft King Air turboprop aircraft, manufactured by Textron Aviation. Textron is committed to finding new, innovative solutions to enhance the experience in the sky for pilots and passengers.
According to Lee Aerospace’s testing, the addition of a thin metallic inner layer allows windows to reduce the amount of infrared light entering into the cabin. This feature allows for a cooler and more comfortable environment during ramp operations.
The windows feature a frost pane with an integrated window tint. The design works to reduce undesirable sunlight and glare, which in turn improves visibility. The frost pane will also reduce or eradicate any unwanted buildup of ice during longer flights. In addition to the Electric Air Conditioning System with Ground Cooling, a standard feature on the King Air 360, the windows will provide customers with a cooler and comfier cabin environment, even in ramp conditions.
The King Air 360/360ER and 260 models represent the next generation of the King Air turboprop line. These aircraft offer an enhanced cockpit and passenger experience. Each have advanced upgraded features, like the Innovative Solutions & Support ThrustSense Autothrottle. Over 7,700 Beechcraft King Air turboprops have been delivered globally since 1964. The worldwide fleet as flown over 64 million hours in the 58-year King Air reign.
