Textron celebrated the delivery of the first passenger unit of the Cessna SkyCourier. The twin-engine, large-utility turboprop was delivered to Western Aircraft, a company doing business in Hawaii as Lāna’i Air.
The certification and deliveries for the SkyCourier began in early 2022. The passenger unit is a custom design that combines modern solutions and an unmatched value proposition. The plane is designed with simple systems and easy access points throughout the aircraft for easier maintenance. The SkyCourier has the option to be converted from a 19-passenger configuration to a cargo configuration using patent-pending quick-release seating and removable bulkheads. Early this year, Textron announced that a gravel kit was now offered for the SkyCourier. This addition allows customers to operate the plane in and out of unimproved runways.

“The Cessna SkyCourier is well on its way to becoming a legendary aircraft for our company,” said Lannie O’Bannion, Senior VP of Global Sales and Flight Operations at Textron Aviation. “It’s highly versatile, with cabin flexibility, payload capability, performance and low operating costs, and has already proven to be popular around the world.”
The SkyCourier offers both performance and a lower operating cost for air freight, commuter and special mission operators. It is available in both a freighter and a passenger configuration. The 19-passenger variant includes both crew and passenger doors for smoother boarding and large cabin windows to let in natural light and views. Both of these configurations offer a single point for pressure refueling to allow for a faster turnaround.
Textron also announced that the 100th production unit of the flagship Cessna Citation Longitude business jet has rolled out of the factory and delivery is expected for later this year. The Cessna Citation Longitude is a super-midsize business jet. Textron welcomed the milestone with a celebration at Textron Aviation’s headquarters in Wichita.
“The Citation Longitude has redefined its category with class-leading performance, efficiency and an unrivaled cabin experience,” Textron President and CEO Ron Draper said. “A milestone like this wouldn’t be possible without the owners and operators who love to fly our aircraft or the extraordinary workforce that designs, builds and maintains this legendary aircraft.”
The Longitude uses some of the latest technology on the market, like the integrated autopilot and autothrottle systems with emergency descent mode (EMD). The aircraft is designed to support the pilot experience, passenger comfort and overall performance. This jet is the only one in its class to offer the range that it does. No other jet offers a greater payload or higher cruise speed at a reduced direct operating cost. The Citation Longitude was granted FAA certification in September 2019 and deliveries began shortly after.
