Cirrus adds Auto Radar and Cirrus IQ connectivity to Vision Jet

Cirrus Aircraft today announced it has added Auto Radar, powered by Garmin and Cirrus IQ, as a new advanced feature on the Vision Jet. The upgraded Auto Radar will provide pilots with improved situational awareness and connectivity throughout all pre-flight and inflight activities stages.

“Cirrus Aircraft incorporates intelligent and award-winning innovations into its ecosystem to make flying simpler, safer and more approachable for the pilot and passengers,” Cirrus Aircraft CEO Zean Nielsen said. “The award-winning Vision Jet is a testament to our team’s ongoing dedication to advancing the personal aviation industry. Over the years, the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) and Safe Return Autoland have revolutionized the Personal Aviation Industry. Now with Auto Radar and Cirrus IQ connectivity, pilots have more situational awareness inflight and can streamline the preflight process.”

The Auto Radar allows pilots to choose a desired radar range. The radar automatically scans the area in front and displays a real-time, composite depiction of the weather. The Auto Radar system creates an in-depth view of the weather by using an automatic selection and choosing an optimal horizontal scan pattern and vertical tilt combination. The radar volumetrically profiles areas of precipitation to deliver a composite view of the radar returns to the pilot. The Auto Radar provides clear imagery with a 16-color palette and an improved automatic ground-clutter suppression.

Cirrus IQ is available in the Vision Jet with added LTE-enabled hardware. The Cirrus IQ mobile app allows pilots to check key aircraft readiness items which are updated after each flight from anywhere in the world. The key items include the last known status of oxygen/fuel levels, aircraft locations, flight hours and engine cycles.

The Cirrus IQ technology modernizes aircraft ownership with savvy features like Maintenance Minder and Technical Publications for the owners to keep track of maintenance intervals and stay current with any applicable publications for their aircraft. Each flight and various “achievements” are automatically logged through the My Trips and Achievements features. Owners can find Cirrus Authorized Service Centers, Training Partners and Cirrus Aircraft Campuses through the Find Us feature in the app.

The new LTE-enabled hardware powering the Cirrus IQ is standard on every new G2+ Vision Jet. The Auto Radar is available as part of the Enhanced Awareness Package. The Cirrus IQ mobile app is available to owners with an active JetStream contract. Retrofits for the Auto Radar and Cirrus IQ will be available for G2 and G2+ Vision Jet owners in the future through Cirrus Upgrades and Accessories.
