Dashcam video shows Grumman aircraft crash landing on busy highway; pilot walks away

Dashcam video shows a small piston plane crash landing around 10 a.m. Thursday near Atlanta on a busy highway.

The plane, a 1969 Grumman American AA-1, clipped a power line on Cobb Parkway, near the Cobb County International Airport (RYY), before wildly veering and coming to rest nose down in a grassy highway median.

The roadway was closed as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and restore power.

The FAA registry shows the plane as being registered to a Florida man; however, local police identified the pilot as different person.

The pilot, the only person on board, survived. He was identified by the Kennesaw, Georgia Police Department as Corey Robertson, no age nor city of residence were provided.

The department said Robertson walked away from the plane and declined medical treatment. He told police that he experienced engine problems before the crash landing.

The FAA is handling the investigation.
