FAA approves ALSIM Diamond DA40 simulator
The FAA has approved the ALSIM AL40 simulator, an exact replica of the Diamond DA40 NG, as an Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD).
In the United States, ALSIM’s AL40 is currently in operation by the Aspen Flight Academy in Colorado, a program giving high school students the chance to experience flight and learn about careers in the aviation industry.
The AATD approval on the AL40 will give student pilots the ability to log flight hours towards their instrument rating and CPL certificates. With the rising cost of aircraft, fuel, and insurance, a simulator can give students access to training tools at a reasonable cost.
“The ALSIM AL40 is an exceptional simulator with state-of-the-art flight characteristics,” said Captain Mike Pearce, Aspen Flight Academy’s Board of Directors Chairman. “This device has truly improved the performance of my students in all aspects of flight training.”
