Gulfstream announces Honeywell avionics upgrade for G650, G650ER

Gulfstream announced Friday that the Honeywell Primus Epic Block 3 upgrade is now available for the Gulfstream G650 and G650ER. The new upgrade includes various new and improved features that will grow the existing visual, communication, alerting and navigation systems.

“Continuous improvement and ongoing enhancements for all Gulfstream aircraft are hallmarks of our ownership experience,” Gulfstream President Mark Burns said. “Development teams have prepared and perfected robust upgrades worthy of the award-winning G650 fleet.”

The new upgrade includes advanced graphics modules that provide four times the terrain resolution and enhanced gamma-correct color sets. The Standard Block 3 features night mode charts, new Synthetic Vision System display options and enhanced graphics on the primary flight display. The upgraded system has the Communication Management Function version 3.1 which provides better performance and alerting options.

The Standard Block 3 Localizer Performance approaches have reduced minima over LNAV approaches where the localizer performance with vertical guidance is not available. There is ADS-B in Cockpit Display of Traffic Information for airborne or qualified ground operations. With the latest upgrade, there were over 1,500 improvements to the next-generation Flight Management System. There will also be access to the baggage compartment up to 45,000 feet.

The optional features include a Situational Awareness package that includes both 2D and 3D airport moving maps, enhanced Synthetic Vision system symbology and ADS-B In Visual Separation on Approach. There is an option for the award-winning Predictive Landing Performance System, including the integration of Honeywell’s Runway Overrun Awareness & Alerting System. The optional features also include Autopilot Coupled Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), a Weather Awareness package that includes an XM Weather update with eight weather products, and a predictive weather hazards addition to the Honeywell IntuVue RDR-4000 3D weather radar system.

“These enhancements provide operators even more tools that help pilots make informed safety decisions during all phases of flight, with particular emphasis on improving awareness in high-traffic situations and during takeoffs and landings,” Burns said.
